Singapore is a key partner for the intelligence "5 Eyes" that intercept and monitor mobile communications network in Kuala Lumpur, it was revealed in the same document issued Whistleblowers Edward Snowden.
Media group based in Australia, Fairfax Media reported today the Dutch daily newspaper NRC Handelsblad named Singapore as a key "third party" that provide five countries access to the communication channel in Malaysia.
The newspaper published a map showing the U.S. grip on trans-Pacific communication channels through interception facility on the West Coast of the United States, Hawaii and Guam.
Our facilities at the cable intercept all traffic across the Pacific Ocean, and on to Australia and Japan, Singapore was part of the construction as shown in the map.
According to Fairfax, Malaysia and Indonesia are prime targets for both the Australian and Singapore intelligence since the 1970s, as most telecommunications and its Internet traffic goes through the island city of the country.
In August, Fairfax also reported that Singapore intelligence agencies are partners of electronic espionage Australia, Defence Signals Directorate, to tap the cable SEA-ME-WE-3, which operates from Japan, via Singapore, Djibouti, Suez and the Strait of Gibraltar to the North of Germany.
According to Fairfax, Malaysia and Indonesia are prime targets for both the Australian and Singapore intelligence since the 1970s, as most telecommunications and its Internet traffic goes through the island city of the country.
In August, Fairfax also reported that Singapore intelligence agencies are partners of electronic espionage Australia, Defence Signals Directorate, to tap the cable SEA-ME-WE-3, which operates from Japan, via Singapore, Djibouti, Suez and the Strait of Gibraltar to the North of Germany.
Acts allegedly perpetrated by telecom operators Singapore, Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel), one of the government-owned investment agency Temasek Holdings.
The company owns Peter Ong, head of the Singapore Public Service, formerly in charge of national security and intelligence coordination, given the position on the board as a representative of the government.
Singtel is also believed to expand ties between Australia and Singapore in the intelligence and defense over the past 15 years, according to the disclosure.

XKeyscore program used since 2008 was said to be able to capture terrorists from intelligence gained through the use of the tool.
Map dated August 13, 2010, however, showed no such facilities in Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Britain, and Japan, which is a close ally of the U.S..
